Gear Exchange

Outgrown it? Trade it in.

Kids grow fast, and good gear ends up sitting in the garage. Bring us your outgrown, older and gently used sports gear. We'll evaluate it for trade-in value and make you an offer, and quality pieces go back on the rack at fair prices so the next player can get in the game.

How it works

From the garage to the next game

Clearing out outgrown gear should be easy. Tell us what you have and we'll take it from there.

  1. Tell us what you have

Fill out the trade-in form with each item, its size and about how old it is. We may reply asking for a few photos.

  2. Bring it in and we take a look

We'll set up a time for you to bring your gear by, so we can check each piece in person.

  3. We make you an offer

We evaluate each item for trade-in value, make you an offer and walk you through your options.

  4. Your gear finds its next player

Gear we accept goes back on the rack at a fair price, so another player can get in the game.

About trade-in offers. Every offer depends on the item, its condition and current demand, so we make offers once we've seen your gear, and we'll walk you through your options then.

What we're looking for

Gear we'd like to hear about

Here are some examples. We're still finalizing which items and conditions we accept, so tell us what you have and we'll let you know.

Bats

Baseball and softball bats, from tee ball up through adult sizes.

Gloves & mitts

Fielding gloves, first base mitts and catcher's mitts.

Cleats

Baseball, softball, soccer, lacrosse and football cleats. They're often outgrown long before they wear out.

Lacrosse sticks & heads

Complete sticks, shafts and heads, for every position.

Protective gear

Pads, guards and lacrosse gloves.

Goalie & catcher's gear

Chest protectors, leg guards, masks and goalie gear. Big-ticket gear that's well worth passing along.

Bags

Bat bags, equipment bags and sports backpacks.

Hockey & field gear

Hockey and field hockey sticks, plus other field gear.

Team apparel

Practice jerseys, pants, pinnies and warm-ups.

Have something that isn't on the list? Tell us about it in the trade-in form and we'll let you know.

Condition

Good gear, ready to play

We're looking for gear in good, usable shape that the next player can use. We're still setting our condition standards, so if you're not sure about a piece, list it anyway and we'll let you know.

Before you send your list, give each piece a quick once-over and note anything we should know, such as:

  • Any cracks, dents, splits or broken parts
  • Whether straps, zippers and laces still work
  • Whether all the pieces are there, like a shaft with its head

Outgrown youth gear is what the Gear Exchange is for. Kids outgrow gear long before it wears out, and passing it along helps the next family get started.

Choosing a condition on the form

A quick guide to help you describe your gear. We'll confirm condition when we see it.

Like new
Used lightly, maybe a season. Little to no visible wear.
Good
Normal wear from regular use. Everything works and nothing is damaged.
Fair
Shows its age, but it's solid, safe and still has life left.
Not sure
That's fine. Choose "Not sure" and we'll take a look.
Safety first

What we may decline

Every piece we put back on the rack goes to a player who's counting on it, so we may pass on anything that isn't safe or ready to use.

We may decline any item. If we can't take something, we'll let you know.

  • Cracked, broken or damaged itemsIncluding cracked bats, heads, shafts and shells.
  • Recalled itemsAnything that's been recalled by its maker.
  • Heavily worn gearWorn-through palms, flattened padding, frayed laces or cleats with the tread gone.
  • Expired, damaged or uncertified helmetsHelmets need to be in date and carry their certification, and we may still decline some.
  • Anything unsafeIf we don't think it's safe for the next player, we won't take it.
Shop used gear

Quality gear without the new-gear price

Growing kids can need a new size every season. Used gear from the Gear Exchange lets them play in gear that fits, without paying new prices every time.

Used gear listings are coming soon in the Shop. Each listing will show the item's condition, so you know what you're getting before you ask for it.

Coming soon

Why used gear makes sense

  • Gear that fits now, instead of gear to grow into.
  • Fair prices on quality used gear.
  • An easy way to try a new sport before buying everything new.
  • Good gear stays in the game instead of the garage.

Start a trade-in

Tell us what you have

List the gear you'd like to trade in: the item, its size and about how old it is. The more detail you give us, the better.

We'll reply by email from info@r4cksports.com, and we may ask for a few photos so we can see the condition before we set up a time to look at it.

What happens next

  • We read through your list and reply by email.
  • We may ask for photos of a few pieces.
  • We set up a time to see your gear in person.
  • We evaluate it and make you an offer based on the item, its condition and demand.

Sending this form doesn't commit you to anything. You'll see our offer before you decide.

List each item with its size and about how old it is. Items in different shape? Note it here. Up to 500 characters; use the last box for anything more.
